City and studio connected

"And now we tune in to our reporter on site."

Every morning, Den Haag FM broadcasts their shows from the studio of the district of The Hague in the library on 'het Spui'. Ivar Lingen of Den Haag FM tells us, "With the new studio in the library, its easier to invite people into the show, but it's even nicer when reporters can be present at the site. Sense the spirit and experience it." Since last month, the reporters have been able to hit the road with the newly purchased portable transmitter, the Comrex Access NX Portable. They have immediately put it to good use. The Comrex Access NX Portable has been delivered as a complete set, this includes the codec itself, a bag, modems and antennas but also headphones and a microphone. At the library the Comrex Access NX Multirack was installed to receive the signal.

According to Ivar, the sound of the portable transmitter is really good. "The other day we were on the beach reporting on all the stuff that had been washed ashore and in the studio you could hear the sea in the background, that's fantastic! This way you can really bring the feeling to the listener. You don't get this effect with a telephone connection." (listen to this item below) In addition, he points out that the set is super easy to use." After a brief explanation, the reporters of Den Haag FM, two journalism students, were able to work completely on their own.

"From the beach at Scheveningen to the heart of the Schilderswijk or live from the Malieveld, the possibilities are endless. With Comrex Access NX Multirack it is possible to connect multiple lines and thanks to the cooperation with the public service broadcasting, regional and national broadcasters can use it. The district thinks it's important that the public broadcasting is able to report live in high quality, therefore they choose Comrex Access NX.

Ivar Lingen had worked with the Comrex Access Portable, the predecessor of the Comrex Access NX Portable, in the past. "It's a real change, much more modern." He notices a difference especially in the connection's stability. This stability is ensured by the 'CrossLock' functionality, this establishes multiple network connections that are combined to transmit the best quality audio on the radio.

about the designation of the railroad viaduct across the Trekvliet in the Hague as a monument.

For Ivar, the introduction of Comrex Access NX to the studio is important because now they can report on the entire city. The city is brought into the studio in good quality with a good connection. For example, Femke, an intern at Den Haag FM, recently went to the vaccination location in the old congress building for her first live interview. Here she ran into the mayor of The Hague, a spontaneous interview with the mayor took place. This could not have happened it the reporting had to bed done from inside the studio.
